"Wild Cowhide"? Smuggling Snake Skin!
A few days ago, the Whampoa Customs seized 133 pieces of smuggled Python skin in the international express channel for the imported goods named "wild cowhide".
It is reported that Python is a national protected animal.
Python leather has a high commercial value and can be used for making high-grade leather bags and shoes.
The Customs said that efforts should be made to crack down on smuggling and to fulfill the Chinese government's commitment to the Convention on international trade in endangered species of Wild Fauna and flora.
