German Police Dog Patrol, Wear Shoes, Protect Claws From Injury.
German Dusseldorf city officials said on the 25 day, local police dogs will soon wear blue plastic fiber shoes when patrolling, which aims to protect the paw of police dogs from injury.
"All 20 of our police dogs, including German and Belgian shepherds, are now being trained to walk in shoes," said Andre Hartvik, a Dusseldorf official.
The old town of Dusseldorf is famous for its pubs and drinking traditions, where police dogs are especially prone to step on broken beer bottles.
Police dogs are often injured by small glass pieces deep into their claws.
