There Is A Difference Of 2 Million 700 Thousand Packages Between Cotton Production And Production Target In Pakistan.

The output of cotton in Pakistan differs from the original and revised targets by 200 thousand and 2 million 700 thousand packs respectively. The reason is that cotton fields are attacked by pests, while the relevant government officials are slow in action.

Although the output target has been revised three times, the output will still not exceed 11 million 400 thousand packages.

However, the final data of Pakistan cotton processing Association (PCGA) will be announced next week.

There is another special thing this year. Cotton manufacturers reduce the average weight of cotton bales from 170 kg to 155 kg.

The weight of each pack is 15 kilograms less than before.

Therefore, if the output of cotton is 11 million 400 thousand bales and converted to standard cotton bags, the total output will be about 10 million 600 thousand packs.

PCGA's last report was released in April 4, 2008. The report showed that until April 1, 2008, the number of cotton ginning plants arrived was 11 million 330 thousand bales.

However, the biweekly report up to April 14th was not released.

PCGA will conduct the final investigation next week to collect final production data.

But on the last 20 days of April, the number of ginning plants arrived at about 25000 bags, and by the end of the year, the output will not exceed 11 million 400 thousand bales.

One industry source said that this year, the Ministry of food, agriculture and animal husbandry first allowed BT cotton cultivation in Pakistan to promote production, but failed to control pests.

Powdered insects attack about 15% of the farmland.

The cotton planting area is about 31 million 800 thousand hectares, and the BT cotton planting area is only 1 million hectares.
