India Provides 3 Million Duty-Free Imports Of Sri Lanka Garments.

The Ministry of Commerce of Sri Lanka announced in April 28th that India had provided the duty free import quota for Sri Lanka garments.

As a result, Sri Lanka clothing manufacturers can import 3 million garments in India every year, and are not allowed to use fabrics or ports.

According to the "India Sri Lanka free trade agreement", Sri Lanka's 8 million garments export to India can enjoy tax concessions, but India cloth must be used, and Sri Lanka can only import part of the seaport in India.

The recent concession result is that 3 million garments in Sri Lanka can be exported to India in any country made of cloth. The remaining 5 million are produced under the condition of India cloth production. The relevant products enjoy a 75%~100% reduction tax discount according to the India classification system, and all 8 million garments can be imported from any India port.

The joint clothing association of Sri Lanka (JAAF) said it would implement a quota system to allocate 3 million duty-free clothing quotas to garment manufacturers interested in exporting to India.
