As a matter of fact, since 2005, the national basic safety technical specification for textile products has been enforced, and the new standard of clothing products will also be implemented, so that our clothes will be healthier and safer.

The new standard strictly controls harmful substances.

According to the new standard, the safety categories of textile products are classified into infant products (category A), direct contact with skin (class B) and non direct contact skin (class C), among which category A is the most stringent, and the population is less than 24 months old.

"This classification method is a manifestation of humanization, which changed the method of classifying raw materials in the past."

Zhou Huaying, deputy director of the Standardization Office of Hangzhou Quality Supervision Bureau, told reporters.

According to the introduction, the new standard has 5 safety indicators, namely formaldehyde, pH value, color fastness, odor, and decomposable aromatic amine dyes.

In addition to formaldehyde, the other 4 are new indicators, of which color fastness is an important indicator of fading. Decomposable aromatic amine dyes are carcinogenic dyes that are banned in textile products.

If these 5 indicators are all up to standard, the health of consumers will be guaranteed.

The reporter has learned that this new standard is applicable to the textile products that are produced, sold and used in China.

"For the textile products produced before January 1, 2005, there will be a 1 year pitional period in the market.

From January 1, 2006 onwards, all new clothing products sold on the market must be implemented.
