Swiss Customs Will Confiscate Counterfeit Goods Such As Counterfeit Textiles.

According to VOA6 report 15, Helen, director of the legal department of the Swiss Confederation Intellectual Property Research Institute, said the new law would block the loopholes in the counterfeit products that passengers take into Switzerland.

The customs will have the right to confiscate prohibited goods carried by individuals only for personal use, and the goods prohibited will be confiscated, even if they are not for sale.

Passengers carrying counterfeit textiles, handbags, shoes and counterfeit Swiss watches are likely to be confiscated by Swiss customs officials.

The new customs regulations will be implemented in July 1st.

The customs only confiscated counterfeit products and did not impose fines.

People who carry counterfeit products will not be treated as criminals.

The aim is to convey a clear message to all the people including Swiss nationals, making counterfeit products a serious problem.

The Swiss watchmaking industry says that the losses it has suffered every year is up to $700 million due to underemployment.

The vast majority of people who carry counterfeit products into Switzerland are believed to be Swiss nationals.

The Swiss tourism association says Chinese tourists usually buy real Swiss brands in Switzerland so that they can show off their Swiss purchases after returning home.

Counterfeit products damage brand image.

If counterfeit products are flooded with the market, consumers will lose confidence in the real brand watches they buy.
