YOUNGOR group, a famous clothing company, has suffered tens of millions of Yuan claims for its "DP" letter on its shirt tag, which is two yuan.

Reporters learned yesterday that Mr. DP, a trademark holder, submitted a petition to the Chaoyang Court, saying that YOUNGOR did not pay the relevant fees without its permission. For this purpose, it ordered the other party to stop using the trademark and compensate for the loss of 10 million yuan.

Mr. Zhang Chao, the Attorney General of Beijing Guangsheng law firm, said Mr. Li obtained the trademark registration qualification of "DP" in August 2003 and obtained the trademark registration certificate.

The trademark is classified as clothing.

At the end of last year, he found a "DP" English word on the tag of YOUNGOR shirt series at a shopping mall in Chaoyang District.

Zhang believes that the behavior of YOUNGOR group has constituted a violation of Mr. Lee's trademark right.

"DP" is an abbreviation for "Durable Press (durable ironing)" in YOUNGOR, which is designed to distinguish different quality garments.

According to industry practices and related regulations, "DP" should be a generic name and should not be registered as a trademark. The use of YOUNGOR is within reasonable limits.

At present, YOUNGOR has submitted an application for trademark dispute to the Trademark Review and Adjudication Board of the National People's Republic of China, requesting the cancellation of the trademark "DP" held by Mr. Li.

A staff member of YOUNGOR Group Office denied that they had infringed, but said the company had recovered the products sold in parts of Beijing.
