Turkey Apparel Retail Giant Adopts RFID Single Level Tracking System

Clothing Retail Situation Turkey RFID Technology

LCWaikiki, one of Turkey's largest clothing retailers, uses RFID technology to track the company's single clothing in Istanbul's flag shop and plans to complete the installation of RFID systems in 50-60 other stores within the next 6 months.

LCWaikiki adopts EAS passive Gen2 UHF RFID tag for inventory management, checkout, automatic replenishment and anti-theft.

LCWaikiki has used RFID-EAS tags in the shops where EAS systems have been installed, but perhaps in the new store (no EAS facilities), only RFID tags are used for inventory management and burglary prevention.

At present, LCWaikiki is about to open a new store every 10 days. The company has more than 200 stores in Turkey.

Alien and its integrated partner STSTechnology provide and implement RFID systems for LCWaikiki.

When a garment is delivered from a storage room to a store, a fixed RFID reader passing through the store reads the label.

When the clothing is sold, the cashier reads the RFID tag to record the paction.

RFID read event triggered POS system will be deleted from the sold garment inventory system and automatically generate the replenishment sheet.

Now, LCWaikiki clothing has been sent to the store from the stock room at 70% faster and 60% less time, according to Alien.

"Inventory replenishment is a big problem, and the RFID system automatically processes the whole process," Crocker said.

"The application of this system is not complicated, and any retailer in the world can adopt it."

Last week, a report released by the RFID Research Center at Arkansas University said that the stable high reading rate made the tracking of single products in clothing and footwear industry become reality.

RFID reader can also monitor clothing and prevent pilferage, according to Crocker, but LCWaikiki does not install readers for this purpose. The company wants to make use of the existing EAS system.

LCWaikik has designed the RFID-EAS label, and every newly arrived garment will be labeled.

This system has been in Istanbul headquarters of LCWaikiki for three months.

According to Crocker, LCWaikiki plans to install the system for 50-60 other stores and eventually spread to all branches.

In LCWaikiki2007, the turnover was 84840 billion US dollars, and the revenue growth rate of the company in the past three years was 45%, 43% and 35% respectively.

The RFID application of LCWaikiki has further promoted the application of RFID single level in garment industry.

Earlier this year, AmericanApparel announced the adoption of RFID system in at least 17 stores. The Spanish children's clothing manufacturer B Boli applied RFID single tracking system in its distribution center.
