Greek President'S Visit To Vietnam Aims To Strengthen Bilateral Trade

On October 16th, the Greek President Mr Karolos Papoulias was visiting Vietnam.

As part of his planned visit, he attended the business forum held by the two business delegations.

This forum will inject vitality into the trade and business development between Greece and Vietnam.

Speaking at the forum, Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Mr Doukas said there were many good cooperation areas in the development of bilateral trade between Greece and Vietnam, including textiles and clothing.

As an ASEAN member, Vietnam can serve as the gateway for Greek entrepreneurs to enter the world's largest market, and the ASEAN market has a population of 600 million.

Le Danh Vinh, Vice Minister of industry and trade in Vietnam, said that the two economies could complement each other and Greece could become a potential partner of Vietnam.

In June this year, the Vietnamese President visited Greece.

In 2007, bilateral trade between the two countries was US $90 million, of which Vietnam exported US $82 million, including Vietnam's textiles, clothing and shoes.
