The Number Of Leather Shoes Industry Exports Declined For The First Time.
In 2008, China International Leather Fair will be held in Shanghai New International Expo Center in from September 3 to 5, 2008.
Su Chaoying, Secretary General of the China Leather Association, said in a press conference before the exhibition that the export of leather shoes industry for the first time in 2007 was affected by the continued appreciation of the renminbi, the adjustment of the export tax rebate policy and the EU's anti-dumping duties on China's leather shoes.
However, the increase in the average unit price of exports has accelerated.
He also said that China's leather industry has improved its new product development and profitability, and its share of trade surplus has declined, and its sustainable development capacity has been continuously enhanced.
Statistics show that the number of leather shoes exported in 2007 was 1 billion 300 million pairs, down 6% from the same period last year, the first decline in exports over the past decade, the export amount of US $9 billion 560 million, an increase of 9% over the same period last year, and the flat export price of leather shoes 7.29 US dollars, an increase of 13.5% over the same period last year.
In addition, the export value of leather clothing industry decreased by 22% and 21% respectively in 2007, which has declined for five consecutive years since 2003.
At present, China has become the largest footwear producer in the world, and the footwear industry in Guangdong is nearly half that of the whole country.
