Yue Yuen Industrial (Holdings) Ltd., 0551.HK, referred to as Yuyuan group, said on Tuesday that its operating income in May was $444 million 400 thousand.

The listed company in Hongkong did not provide data for the same period last year, but last year the company announced its operating income of $366 million 500 thousand in May 2007.

Yuyuan group said its operating income reached $2 billion 40 million in the first five months of this year.

The company also did not provide data for the same period last year, but last year it indicated that total operating income in the first five months of 2007 amounted to $1 billion 510 million.

Yuyuan group is the largest sports shoe manufacturer in the world.

As a subsidiary of Pou Chen Corp. (9904.TW) in Taiwan, Yuyuan group is a constituent stock of Hang Seng Index. Its factories in China, Vietnam and Indonesia are mainly sports shoes produced by Nike (Nike Inc.) and Adidas-Salomon AG.
