Customs Raid On Shoes Exhibition To Detain Chinese Exhibits

2007/9/19 0:00:00 109

On Sunday, 10 staff from Essen customs attacked the GDS/GLS, the world's largest footwear exhibition in Dusseldorf, and detained 343 pairs of sneakers brought by Chinese exhibitors.

Exhibition spokesman Kurt (Thomas K o tter) confirmed that Chinese exhibitors were suspected of copying Adidas, Puma, Nike, Reebok and other famous sports shoes.

On the first day of the exhibition, the trademark protection departments of several well-known sports shoe manufacturers have been eyeing Chinese exhibitors.

They subsequently contacted the Dusseldorf Procuratorate, which later contacted the Essen customs.

After customs action, Chinese manufacturers can still stay in Dusseldorf to exhibit exhibits they have not been detained.

De Fang Tan said that because China and Germany are far away from each other, it is difficult for them to be brought to justice.

Exhibitors will also return to China safely after the exhibition.

Kurt said, "it is very limited to trace counterfeit manufacturers through legal means, and the other party can change its name in case of emergency."

Nevertheless, the organizer is satisfied with the achievements made by the parties concerned in recent years in their concerted efforts to combat counterfeiting.

Kurt said that forty or fifty cases of counterfeiting had been found before, compared with 10 this year.

In order to crack down on counterfeiting, the Dusseldorf shoe exhibition first appeared this year.

The staff in black uniforms are responsible for monitoring whether the visitors are shooting the merchandise at close range, and the staff have the right to delete the photos in the digital camera.

This year, more than 1400 manufacturers from all over the world participated in the Dusseldorf shoe exhibition. They brought 500 thousand new models of shoes.

33 thousand and 500 buyers from more than 80 countries also participated in the exhibition.

It is reported that because of imitation, the global shoe industry suffers losses of up to 1 billion euros per year.
