European Shoe Industry Is Ready To Extend Anti-Dumping Measures To China
In June 9, 2008, Al Theo Lee, chairman of the Italy Footwear Association, said that the total volume of shoes imported from China's 16%% and Vietnam 14.7%% still maintained a two digit growth rate in 2007. However, compared with 2006, the total number of shoes imported from China and the Vietnamese government decreased by 16.5%% and 9%% respectively. This shows that EU's anti-dumping measures are effective.
Al Theo Lee said that China's dumping is not only social, environmental, but also trade and currency.
The European footwear Federation has decided to extend to the European Union the extension of anti-dumping measures on leather shoes in China and Vietnam to 5 years.
