The import of textile machinery and parts and industrial sewing machines (hereinafter referred to as "textile equipment") in Guangdong also has a downward trend.

According to Guangzhou customs statistics, Guangdong imported 440 million US dollars in textile equipment in the first half of this year, down 16.8% from the same period (the same below), of which, the import of textile machinery and parts was 420 million dollars, down 15.4%, the import of industrial sewing machines was 10 thousand, the value was 20 million 508 thousand dollars, and 48.7% and 38.8% respectively.

Before that, import demand for textile equipment was increasing. In 2002, the import of textile equipment was 690 million US dollars and increased to 1 billion 30 million US dollars in 2007.

In order to actively expand imports of resource products and technology products that are scarce in China, in September last year, the national development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Commerce jointly issued the catalogue of technology and products to encourage imports. For the first time, they encouraged imports through discount policy, including encouraging imports of textile technology and equipment that were scarce in China.

However, according to the statistics of textile equipment imported from Guangdong in the first half of this year, the import of textile equipment generally included no increase in general trade imports, most of which fell, while the export of clothing and accessories in Guangdong for the same period was 10 billion 800 million US dollars, a sharp decrease of 31.3%.

The data show that under the influence of the acceleration of RMB appreciation, the policy adjustment of export rebate rate, the rising cost and the global recession caused by the subprime mortgage crisis in the United States, resulting in the decline of consumption and the shrinking demand, the domestic textile and garment industry is facing the pressure of industrial restructuring, weak demand for textile equipment, weak import power, and the policy effect of encouraging imported advanced textile equipment with discount interest has not yet been reflected.
