In July 17th, the reporter learned from relevant departments that from next year, all inefficient cotton fields will resolutely withdraw from cotton production, and the construction of high-quality and efficient cotton areas will become the main direction of cotton production in Akesu.

According to the Agricultural Commission of the prefectural Party committee, this year, the Akesu area adopted a "control" strategy for cotton production. Although the inefficient cotton fields were out of cotton production, however, from the reality of the increase in farmers' income, only a part of the planting areas with low accumulated temperature in some counties were left. The cotton planting area is still large, which has affected the development of grain industry, forestry and fruit industry and animal husbandry to some extent, and has become a bottleneck restricting the supply of forage and organic fertilizer (mainly in the area of farmyard manure).

In addition, although the direct benefit of cotton is better on the surface, the utilization value of cotton by-products is low, and the price of agricultural products has been rising.

To keep cotton production at a high level, we must start with new technologies such as hybrid cotton and water-saving drip irrigation, and work hard to improve quality and yield per unit area.

It is understood that this year, the area of cotton planting in the whole region is 3 million 500 thousand mu, which has increased 160 thousand mu compared with last year. From next year, the area will resolutely implement the policy of "controlling cotton". The total area of cotton planting will no longer increase. The counties (cities) will resolutely eliminate the low efficiency cotton fields which are obviously lower than the average level of the county (city), so as to provide a strong guarantee for the rapid development of the grain industry, the fruit industry and the animal husbandry.
