According to the Pakistan Daily News reported on July 30th, the finance minister Kamal said recently that the federal government will continue to provide 6% R & D support to the garment industry (excluding bedding and cloth industry) in the current fiscal year (July 2008 to June 2009). The proposal will take effect after the approval of the cabinet Economic Coordination Committee (ECC).

It is reported that Kamal recently participated in the Pakistan clothing forum with some government officials. During that time, he exchanged with the representatives of several textile manufacturers (Association), including the knitwear manufacturers association, the garment manufacturers and Exporters Association, and instructed the Federal Tax Commission (FBR) to investigate and solve the problem of withholding tax reflected by garment exporters as soon as possible.

Kamal also called on the industry to cooperate with the government to tide over the difficulties and bring the economic development back to the right track.
