Italy correspondent news agency Rome August 7th, Italy National Bureau of Statistics said that in July, Italy's industrial production grew by 0.1%, down 4.4% compared with the same period last year (if adjusted by working day 1.8%).

Industrial production fell 1.5% in the first half of 2008 (1.2% after adjustment).

After a quarter adjustment, the year-on-year change was 1.3% for consumer goods, 3.1% for non durable goods and 5.3% for durable goods.

The figures show that the production situation is poor, the semi-finished products have dropped by 3.7%, the energy products have dropped by 2.4%, and the mechanical products have dropped by 2%.

In terms of monthly ratio, the corrected index: energy products increased by 2.1%; consumer goods increased by 1.9%; semi-finished products increased by 0.5%; and mechanical products decreased by 0.8%.

Industrial production adjusted by working day in June 2008 increased by 10.1% of textiles and clothing; food, beverages and tobacco increased by 1.3%; gas, electricity and water increased by 0.8%; paper and press and publication industry increased by 0.2%.

Leather and footwear industry decreased by 12.6%; mining decreased by 9.4%; oil refining decreased by 9.3%; non-metallic mining decreased by 6.6%.
