India has always been an important source of yarn in Bangladesh. Recently, the India rupee depreciated sharply, resulting in the decline of India yarn export prices, which has brought great pressure to the sales of Mongolian local yarns.
The price of 30 cotton yarn in the Bangladesh market is 2.75-2.80 dollars per kilogram, while India sells for 2.55 dollars. In addition, India is one of the major cotton producers, while Meng is a net importer of cotton (from Uzbek and other CIS countries), which makes India very easy to "dump" its yarn. The lack of continuity in Bangladesh's government policy is also an important factor affecting the development of the spinning industry.
According to statistics, in 2007, 28 new textile mills and 442 thousand spindles were built in Bangladesh, and 43 new home textile mills and 944 thousand spindles were built in 2008.
At present, Bangladesh has 341 spinning factories nationwide, producing 1 billion 600 million kilograms of yarn per year, with a total investment of US $5 billion 100 million. In the 08 fiscal year, the demand for yarn in Bangladesh was 789 million kg, and in the 07 fiscal year it was 658 million kg, with an annual increase of about 21%.
