Xu Kunyuan, vice president of the China Textile Industry Association, said at the special report meeting of Zhejiang textile industry pformation and upgrading, that China's textile industry employs more than 20 million people and is an important livelihood industry in China.

      許坤元說，紡織行業(yè)是我國的支柱產(chǎn)業(yè)、民生產(chǎn)業(yè)。2000年以來，紡織工業(yè)增加值保持20%的增速，勞動生產(chǎn)率年平均增長12%。從業(yè)人員年均增長5.4%。

At present, there are more than 47200 Enterprises above Designated Size in China. In 2008, the total sales income of the whole industry was 330 billion yuan, an increase of 14% and a profit of 120 billion yuan.

Xu said that about 80% of the 20 million people who took up employment in the textile industry were migrant workers, earning an annual income of 250 billion yuan in cash. Agriculture provided nearly 10 million tons of natural fibers such as cotton, wool, hemp and silk for the textile industry every year, involving 100 million farmers' livelihoods.

Xu Kunyuan believes that the textile industry is still enriching the people industry, giving birth to thousands of farmers entrepreneurs on the road of development and wealth.
