The State Promulgated Policies To Stabilize Cotton Production.
Affected by the international financial crisis, China's textile exports were significantly reduced, the domestic market demand for cotton weakened and prices fell. Last year cotton growers sold seed cotton prices at a low level in the past 6 years. Last year when farmers planted cotton, the prices of production materials were relatively high, which led to a marked decline in farmers' production enthusiasm.
According to the Ministry of agriculture, the cotton planting area will be 76 million 600 thousand mu this year, 9 million 700 thousand mu less than the previous year, with a drop of 11.57%. In order to stabilize cotton production, the state has increased the policy of subsidized cotton varieties this year, with a subsidy of 1 billion 300 million yuan, an increase of 800 million yuan over the previous year.
The subsidized provinces increased from 8 provinces last year to 25 this year. The area of subsidies increased from 33 million 330 thousand acres last year to the full coverage this year. In addition, this year, the Ministry of agriculture has arranged 200 high-yield demonstration plots for cotton production in the dominant area, focusing on promoting the application of advanced agricultural technology to promote high yield of cotton.
