The Validity Period And Effective Area Of Passport And Certificate
The validity period of diplomatic passports, official passports and ordinary passports shall be determined according to the different circumstances and needs of the holder, but the longest period shall not exceed five years.
It may be postponed before the expiry date, but the extension period shall not exceed the original validity period of the passport.
The passport of the Hongkong Special Administrative Region is valid for ten years, and the passport issued to children under 16 years of age is valid for five years.

There are two kinds of travel permits in People's Republic of China. They are valid for two years (many times in and out of China's territory) and one year (entry and exit of China's territory is effective once).
