In 2009, China exported 8 billion 170 million pairs of shoes, the largest export volume in Guangdong, Fujian and Zhejiang, 3 billion 490 million pairs, 1 billion 720 million pairs and 1 billion 170 million pairs, accounting for 78.1% of the total export volume of shoes in the same period. The General Administration of Customs issued the news on its website recently.

Customs statistics show that, in the face of the unfavorable factors such as the rise of foreign trade protectionism and the rising cost of raw materials, the volume of China's shoe exports decreased slightly in 2009, down 0.8% from the same period last year, and the value was 26 billion 570 million US dollars, down 5.5% from the same period last year, and the average export price was 3.3 US dollars, down 4.8%.

It is understood that with the rise of international trade protectionism, Brazil, Peru and the European Union implemented a series of new import standards for footwear related products in 2009, which restricted the export of China's footwear products. During the same period, the main currencies of China's footwear exports, such as India, Indonesia and Brazil, had all depreciated sharply against the US dollar. In addition, the cheaper labor cost advantages of Vietnam, India and Romania and other neighboring countries had weakened the competitive advantage of China's footwear products, and pnational giants such as Nike and Adidas announced the reduction of their procurement plans in China.
