Wu Bing, director of the Municipal Commission of letters and commissions, said that there are more than 3800 textile and garment enterprises in Chongqing, 302 Enterprises above Designated Size, and 200 thousand employees in the whole industry.

In 2009, the industrial output value of textile and garment enterprises above Designated Size reached 17 billion 400 million yuan.

"But Chongqing has bigger goals in the textile and garment industry."

Wu Bing said that by 2012, the sales value would be more than 50 billion yuan, 3 billion yuan in profits and taxes, 3 to 50 thousand new jobs, and the height of the inland open garment industry, the most influential textile and garment production base in Western China, the capital of Commerce and logistics and the city of clothing in Western China.

Making such a plan is not utopian.

"Due to the shortage of labor force and the increase of production cost in the coastal areas, the trend of textile and garment enterprises to pfer to the Midwest."

Chongqing is a large labor export market, labor force is guaranteed, there will not be "labor shortage" in the textile industry, Chongqing's various production factors are gathered, production costs are relatively low, Chongqing has the Yangtze River golden waterway, and the pportation cost is low.

These advantages are important factors that our city attracts the pfer of textile and garment enterprises.
