Zheng Lixin, deputy director of the industrial policy division of the Ministry of industry and commerce, said yesterday in the first quarter of 2010 the industrial communication industry operation press conference that the Ministry of industry and Commerce will strive to decompose the tasks of eliminating backward production capacity in various provinces, regions and cities in May.

Zheng Lixin introduced the progress of eliminating backward production capacity, and said the notice of the State Council on Further Strengthening the elimination of backward production capacity was issued to all regions and departments in February 6th.

And power, coal, steel, cement, non-ferrous metals, coke, paper making, leather making, printing and dyeing and other industries have become the focus of eliminating backward production capacity.

In addition to ensuring the effective completion of the State Council's target tasks, the Ministry of industry and information can support various areas in accordance with the actual development of the local industry and make a wider and higher standard of eliminating backward productivity targets.

The biggest feature of this policy is to clarify the division of responsibilities, strengthen coordination among various departments, and decompose the tasks of eliminating backward production capacity in various regions in 2010.

According to its introduction, the Ministry of industry and information technology is currently conducting research and coordination with the provinces, and intends to decompose the backward production capacity tasks into the provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) this year.

The provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) will further decompose their objectives and tasks to cities and counties and implement them to specific enterprises.

Zheng Lixin stressed that the elimination of backward production capacity this year will strengthen the guidance, supervision, inspection and assessment of all parts of the work.

The Ministry of industry and Commerce will soon announce the list of enterprises to eliminate backward production capacity so as to enhance public opinion supervision.
