In order to make clothing and wool products have a good handle, many domestic production enterprises use alkylphenol polyoxyethylene ether compounds (APEO) in the production process. However, APEO has great biological toxicity and weak biodegradability, which has great influence on the human body and environment.

At present, the European Union has restricted the use of APEO in textiles in the form of instructions. The EU "2003/53/EC directive" clearly stipulates that the limit of APEO for textiles and clothing exported to Europe must not exceed 0.1%.

Therefore, European clothing products must pay attention to the content of APEO.

The inspection and quarantine department recommends: first, in view of the limitation requirements of APEO on textiles, the printing and dyeing and auxiliaries should cooperate closely to limit the use of APEO from the source. Second, the printing and dyeing factories should choose environmental protection auxiliaries, sign a letter of commitment with the auxiliaries, do not use textile chemicals with APEO, and third, as the final gatekeeper of the export products, the inspection and quarantine organs should also conduct effective APEO sampling inspection for the textile and clothing products exported to Europe, so as to prevent the APEO content from exceeding the standard.
