The fifth meeting of ISO 137 Technical Committee (hereinafter referred to as the fifth meeting of ISO/TC137) was held in Beijing from June 7 to 8, 2010. This is the first time that the meeting was held in China, marking that China's shoe industry is playing an increasingly important role on the world stage.

The conference was hosted by ISO/TC137, the International Organization for Standardization, organized by the National Standardization Administration Commission, and co organized by the China Leather and Footwear Industry Research Institute. Michael Philip Wilson (UK), Chairman of ISO/TC137 Technical Committee for International Footwear Standardization presided over the meeting, Alexis Trollip (South Africa), Secretary Ade Zdenek Vymetal (South Africa), Secretary Lisbeth boloka (South Africa) Five foreign representatives, including Dr. Ruth Monika Richter (Germany), Manager of Footwear Technology Research and Development Department, and Peter Hlavacek (Czech Republic), Professor of Thomas Beta University, attended the meeting. In China, 21 representatives from National Technical Committee for Shoe Standardization, China Leather and Shoe Industry Research Institute, China Leather Association, Shanghai Guoxue Shoe Last Co., Ltd., Li Ning, Aokang, Kangnai, Luyi, etc. attended the meeting.
