Gulzar Feroze, President of the Association (PTA), recently said that PTA had asked the Pakistani government to raise the export rebate rate of leather from goat skins, sheepskin, cow hide and buffalo skin from the current 0.8-1.17% to 6.3%, so as to enhance the competitiveness of similar export products in India, China and Bangladesh. At present, the export rebate rates of India, China and Bangladesh are 6.3%, 7.5-11% and 15% respectively.

Feroze said the government lowered the leather in March 2009.
