Recently, 117 projects that applied for patents through the PCT (patent cooperation agreement) in Beijing received the central financial assistance funds.
According to Zhou Yan, deputy director of the Beijing Intellectual Property Bureau, 317 projects in 81 enterprises and institutions in Beijing last year received 12 million 920 thousand yuan from the central government, accounting for 24.4% of the total amount of subsidy.
It is understood that PCT is one of the main ways for the applicant to apply for patents abroad. It can simplify the previously established method of applying for invention patent protection in several countries, making it more effective and economical, and is beneficial to the users of the patent system and the patent office which has the right to manage the system.
