Since the EU imposed a 16.5% anti-dumping duty on genuine leather shoes from China, the risk of anti-dumping is circumvented by the use of non dermal materials. On the other hand, shoes made of high-grade leather such as PU synthetic leather or canvas are popular in European market.

Due to the zero tariff imposed by the China ASEAN Free Trade Area, some Wenzhou shoe companies hope to find new market opportunities in Southeast Asian countries with the help of the recent Wenzhou China famous products fair.

Insiders said that although the EU anti-dumping would damage the export of leather shoes enterprises, it would also help to promote technological progress from another angle, and to a certain extent, it would make up for the losses caused by anti-dumping.
