Luxury store retailer SaksInc (SKS) announced that its same store sales increased 6.4% in July, better than the average 5.1% expected by analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters.

As of July 31st, the company's total sales grew 4.8%, from $160 million in the same period last year to $168 million. The company said that the most powerful sales categories include ladies' footwear, sportswear, handbags and clothing, as well as men's clothing, footwear and accessories.

In the second quarter, the same store sales increased by 4.6%, and total sales increased 4.8%, from 556 million US dollars in the same period last year to 583 million US dollars.

In the first 7 months of this year, its same store sales increased by 5.4%, and its total sales increased 5.9% to 1 billion 240 million dollars.
