The house of Representatives passed the H.R.3116 act in September 15th to expand the appendix (DFARS), the Berry Amendment Act (BerryAmendment), which required the pport safety bureau and the coast guard to buy 100% of American made textiles and clothing unless they were produced in the United States or unable to be purchased at reasonable prices and time.

The Berry Amendment Act hopes to extend the requirement to other institutions in the United States, including the Department of homeland security, the WTO government procurement department, and so on.

Senators said they would discuss the legislation in the near future.

At the same time, a separate measure is required to ask the federal government to buy 100% American made national flag or to use 100 percent of the materials that are grown, produced and manufactured in the United States.

According to the regulations, the US flag Act (H.R.2853) will not allow the federal flag to be manufactured by other countries.

The bill will come into effect 180 days after the announcement.

It is reported that the mainland China is the largest supplier of American flag in the world. Between January 2010 and July, it accounted for 95% of the market share and second of Hongkong accounted for 3%.

The mainland of China sold 6 million 300 thousand flags in 7 months, worth 2 million 100 thousand US dollars, 2 million 500 thousand US dollars compared to 6 million flags of 2009.
