Yao Jian, spokesman of China's Ministry of Commerce, said on 16 th that the current China's rare earth problem needs further management. China's synchronous implementation includes setting export quotas, export tariffs and enterprises.

At a regular press conference held on the same day, Yao Jian pointed out that the main purpose of the restrictions on the exploitation and export of rare earth elements is to strengthen environmental protection.

China's rare-earth reserves account for 30% of the world's total, and if it continues to shoulder the global 80%-90% supply of rare earth, it will be immense.

Yao insists that all countries in the world wishing to have rare earth resources will provide the world with rare earth resources, especially in the field of high technology.

China is willing to cooperate with other countries to further improve the environmental protection technologies in the process of mining, production and processing of rare earth metals, and jointly manage the environmental and technological problems that China urgently needs to solve because of the global 80%-90% production and trade volume.

According to the data from 1 to September this year, Yao Jian said that China has further strengthened energy conservation and environmental protection measures in the mining, production and export links of rare earths, such as the size of the output in 2010 decreased by 20% compared to the previous year, and the planned output volume was 23% less than that of the previous year.

Yao Jian also said that China increased 15%-20% tariffs on rare earth exports this year, while further strengthening its export business to rare earths.
