Now only 7% value added tax is levied on the mobile phones, and 20% of the environmental tax can be levied according to the regulations. However, the customs plan to impose a fixed tax on each cell phone for 200-300 baht.
Ponpanu said that 68 categories of products are now levied, including fuel, automobiles, foreign wines, beer, alcoholic beverages and tobacco taxes, accounting for 95% of the total.
However, the annual tariff is 2000-3000 baht, and the cost of collection is far higher than that. Therefore, these products are exempt from tax.
Ponpanu also said that in order to improve efficiency, the printing sales system will be changed, with an initial investment of 500 million baht and an electronic IT system to improve efficiency.
