The damaged imported goods, if there are problems before the delivery of goods, is called original disability. The original damage shall be borne by the consignor. The original disability includes:

(1) damage or defects that have occurred in the course of production, processing, manufacture, assembly and packing of goods.

(2) the damage resulting from the storage and transportation of goods before shipment.

(3) damage caused by packing conditions which are not in conformity with the contract conditions or are not suitable for ocean transportation conditions.

Ship residue refers to the damage on the ship during the process of loading and unloading. The ship should be held responsible by the carrier.

The ship is usually damaged due to the following reasons:

(1) the conditions of the hatch are not suitable for loading, such as the hull is out of date, disrepair, the cabin is not dense, the water tank is leaking, the water pipe is corroded, the cracks are broken, and the soles are removed. The cargo holds are not clean, dry or smelly, insect pests and so on.

(2) poor equipment in the cabin, such as lack of ventilation equipment, resulting in sewage damage to the goods, covering a small number of canvas or holes.

(3) improper loading, if not according to the characteristics of different goods stowage, so that some goods smell each other.

(4) poor stowage, such as failure to take reasonable protective measures such as reinforcement, lashing, isolation, interlayer, paving, ventilation, liner and so on.

(5) rain and snow loading and unloading.

(6) the crew did not pay attention to the loading of cargo during the voyage, and did not take remedial measures in time when they found problems.

All clean bills of lading are not endorsed by the mate's receipt. The consignor has not provided the import of the letter of guarantee, while the cargo port of the port of unloading has the cargo damaged by the ship, which is generally regarded as a ship's residue.

The imported goods shall be held responsible for loading and unloading by the port or railway departments.

The causes of work disability include illegal operation, mechanical failure, rough handling, careless handling, improper use of tools and so on. For example, the porters simply pursue the unloading speed or make efforts to save the goods, and the goods will be thrown in disorder. They should be hoisted with nets, but they will be damaged by rope. If the winches fail, the goods will break down, and the broken wires will damage the goods. If the goods are damaged by loading and unloading, the goods will be smashed, and the goods will be worn by hand hooks. In addition, unloading, transportation, stacking or improper storage of cargo at unloading terminals, stations, warehouses and grounds are also the responsibility of loading and unloading departments such as port or railway.
