A few days ago, the Zhangjiagang inspection and Quarantine Bureau declared a batch to a company.

During the inspection, the content of azo dyes prohibited by the state was found to be as high as 198ppm, exceeding the prescribed limit of 9.9 times.

According to the regulations on the implementation of the import and Export Commodity Inspection Law of the People's Republic of China, the Bureau has to refund the shipment of the fabrics.

Azo containing carcinogenic aromatic amines

The dyestuff may be absorbed by human skin and spread in the body. Under the biochemical reaction condition of normal metabolism of human body, the reduction reaction may cause the azo group to break and regenerate carcinogenic aromatic amine, causing human diseases and inducing cancer.

Therefore, China's "national textile product basic safety technical specification" explicitly prohibits 23 azo dyes to avoid hidden dangers of quality and safety and protect people's health and safety.

In view of the quality problems of imported fabrics, the inspection and quarantine department suggests that the relevant enterprises should not be superstitious about imported fabrics.
