The British Retail Association (BRC) will launch the latest edition of BRC global.

It is reported that many scientists believe that the existing food packaging has potential risks.

The German Federal risk assessment agency (BfR) said that the ink used for recycling cardboard is the accumulation of newspaper ink, and when it reaches a certain quantity, it will migrate to food.

The following are the changes made in the global packaging standard introduced by BRC:

1. Preparation and planning part to provide guidance and support for new certification units and processes.

2, add additional protective measures to reduce the risk of chemical migration, such as ink passing.

3. The introduction of the "basic" clause is related to the establishment and operation of effective packaging production operation system.

4, introduce a grading plan based on quantity and degree of non conformity.

5. Review the frequency and process of corrective actions that reflect the audit capability of the company.

6. Based on the hygienic requirements of packaging materials used in the later stage, the products are simplified to high risk and low risk. For example, food packaging materials have high risk, but packaging materials surrounding kettle or oven are low risk.

The "BRC global standards - packaging and packaging materials" was promulgated in 1998 with the aim of requiring suppliers to strictly ensure the quality and safety of product packaging in accordance with the law, giving retailers and manufacturers enough confidence.

After the release of the new version, BRC will give the company an additional six months to familiarize itself with the relevant requirements.
