The deputy governor of the people's Bank of China said at the media conference held by the central bank yesterday.

He explained that how much cash the central bank prints needs to consider the amount of cash in circulation because the amount of money needed to be destroyed and replaced is the total amount of money needed to withdraw from the market in 5 to 7 years.

The stock of money in the market now is 4 trillion and 600 billion, which needs to be printed 900 billion every year, according to the 5 year withdrawal from the market.

The annual net monetary issue is not the same concept as the amount of money issued in a certain period. For example, the net income in 2009 was 402 billion 800 million yuan, but in the 40 days from January 1, 2010 to February 10th, the central bank issued 12680 yuan to ensure the peak demand during the festival.

During the new year and Spring Festival, the volume of circulation is 2 to 3 times that of the previous year. It is estimated that the amount of output will exceed 12680 yuan in January this year.

Mr Ma pointed out that the biggest difference between the central bank and other commercial banks is that the central bank has the function of "currency issue". The objectives of the central bank's monetary issuance include: first, to meet the needs of economic and social development on the gross; two, to keep the structure reasonable; three, to make the votes clean; four, to assure the holders that the counterfeit money should be eliminated to the maximum extent.

For the next step to counter counterfeit money, he emphasized the importance of both prevention and cure.
