The resource needed for a "cradle to grave" assessment resulted in a startling discovery that the famous jeans were made almost entirely of water.
From cotton fields to cotton cloth to washing machines, a 501 Jeans need 3480 liters of water in their lifetime.

In terms of cotton cultivation and consumer cleaning jeans, Levi's has not been able to change the status quo to a large extent, but the company executives have realized that they can reduce the amount of water needed to soften jeans before official sales, for example.

The production cost of WaterLess is equivalent to that of conventional jeans, but the average water consumption of the final process is reduced by 28%.
