Oeko-Tex International Certification Of Eco Textiles Limited Substances

The 2011 Edition

Oeko-Tex international certification of eco textiles

(Oeko-Tex Standard 100) has been released in the near future. Compared with the 2010 edition, two kinds of short chain chlorinated paraffins (SCCP) and phosphoric acid three (2- chloro ethyl ester) (TCEP) have been added.

Restricted substances

These two substances have been listed in the list of high quality substances (SVHC) of the REACH code, reflecting the high degree of linkage between Oeko-Tex Standard100 and SVHC.

Oeko-Tex Standard100 is currently the most widely used eco textile standard in the world, which stipulates the categories and limits of prohibited and restricted harmful substances in eco textiles, and is constantly updated according to market demand, laws and regulations, and the latest development of eco textile technology.

Many substances that were included in the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 standard were soon banned or restricted by legislation. Similarly, many substances prohibited or restricted by legislation were quickly collected into the Oeko-Tex Standard100 standard.

Among the two limiting substances added, the short chain chlorinated paraffin (SCCP) is the substance of the first batch of SVHC list of the REACH regulations, while the phosphoric acid three (2- chloro ethyl) ester (TCEP) is the substance of the second batch SVHC list. These two substances are mainly used as flame retardants in the textile industry.

Other textile related substances in the SVHC list have basically been included in the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 standard.

From the changes in recent years, we can see that the relationship between Oeko-Tex Stan dard100 and EU laws and regulations is more and more closely related, especially the REACH regulations. All the substances listed in the SVHC list will basically be included in the Oeko-Tex Standard100 standard.

As a major producer and exporter of textiles, the inspection and quarantine department suggests that textile enterprises should pay close attention to the changes in Oeko-Tex Standard100 and REACH regulations, and make preparations for them.
