It is reported that the European Commission officials have decided to convene an emergency meeting to discuss the re establishment of new baby food safety standards.
The research samples include 9 kinds of famous brands, such as Nestle, Xi Bao (H IPP), H Olle, and O rganix, for more than 4 months.

The study found that if fed two times a day, the number of "arsenic" exposure to carcinogens was 50 times higher than that of breastfeeding. Exposure to heavy metals "cadmium" which could damage the nervous system and kidney function increased by 150 times than that of breast feeding. Exposure could cause permanent mental damage or abnormal behavior of heavy metal lead, and the number would increase 8 times.
The researchers pointed out that although the levels of toxic chemicals mentioned by infants do not exceed the limits set by the EU authorities, toxic heavy metals can accumulate in humans and reach a certain level, which can seriously damage the human body.
To this end, the European Commission decided to convene an emergency meeting to re enact new baby food safety standards to plug loopholes.
The researchers who led the study also pointed out that all the toxic heavy metals contained in these complementary foods came from raw materials of food.
Because rice, wheat and oats will absorb arsenic and other heavy metals from contaminated soil, these chemicals will be contained in baby food.
Two years ago, the British Food Standards Agency issued an official warning that infants and young children should stop eating rice paste because of heavy metal arsenic.
However, it is not the first time that foreign brands of infant foods have been found to be exceeding the standard.
