Macao'S Tourism Price Index Rose By 4.74% In The First Quarter Of This Year, But Only 4% In Clothing Category.
The Macao Bureau of statistics and census began in the first quarter of 2011, using the new base period from October 2009 to September 2010.

In the first quarter of 2011, the tourism price index (112.88) increased by 14.58% on a year-on-year basis. The increase was mainly driven by residential services.

In the first quarter of 2011, the price index of tourism increased by 4.74% on a quarterly basis, and the price index of accommodation, food and liquor and food increased by 12.43%, 6.21% and 4.73% respectively.

As of the first quarter of 2011, the average price index of tourism in recent four seasons increased by 12.45% compared with the previous period. The price index of miscellaneous articles (+22.12%) and accommodation (+21.39%) rose most significantly.
The price index of entertainment and cultural activities dropped by 0.24%.
The price index of tourism from October 2009 to September 2010 reflects the price movements of goods and services purchased by inbound passengers.
The major categories of goods and services are formulated according to the consumption pattern of travellers, including food and liquor, clothing, accommodation, catering, pportation and communications, medicines and personal effects, entertainment and cultural activities and miscellaneous items.
