Last year, the negotiating committee agreed that the factory had to pay 336 Rand minimum wage from the beginning of April, pay 465 Rand minimum wage by the end of the year, and pay the 516 Rand minimum wage by April next year.

Baard, managing director of the South African clothing manufacturers association, said his association could not support UCTA's call for evasive negotiations because it meant that the workers alone decided the wages of the industry.
