In January of this year, Chen Deming, Minister of Commerce, attended the Davos world economic forum and jointly announced with Swiss Economic Minister Schneider Oman to start negotiations on bilateral free trade zones.
The two sides held the first round of negotiations in early April in Berne, Switzerland.
At present, Switzerland is China's ninth largest trading partner in Europe.

Switzerland is also China's sixth largest source of foreign investment in Europe and the most non EU countries investing in China.
