In 2006, 4157 shoemaking enterprises in Wenling, with an annual gross output value of 17 billion 100 million yuan, grew by 15.2% compared with the same period last year, and exported 520 million US dollars, an increase of 20.6% over the same period last year.

According to the investigation of Wenling shoe leather industry association, the production situation of footwear industry in 2007 will be better than that in 2006. The output value will reach 20 billion, an increase of 17% over the same period last year, and the output of footwear will reach more than 800 million pairs, an increase of more than 100 million pairs over the previous year.

The light industry chamber of Commerce joined hands with the Wenling Municipal People's government to build Wenling into the largest footwear export base in China.
