With the advantages of shoemaking and labor resources, many Taiwanese shoe companies, including Taiwan Baocheng group, the largest group of sports shoes and casual shoes, began to settle in Zhoukou. Baocheng Group invested 160 million yuan, and built up a high-end footwear industry with an annual output of about 1000000 pairs. The Taiwan Chicco group also invested 80 million yuan and launched the production of Jin Hong shoes locally.

According to the information provided by the Zhoukou Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the footwear industry projects in 7 counties and cities in Zhoukou have started construction or signing.

Xu Guang, mayor of Zhoukou, said at the meeting that in the first half of 2011, Zhoukou exported 4 million 140 thousand pairs of shoes and exported 42 million 610 thousand US dollars, accounting for 45.8% of Henan's exports and 58.9% of Henan's exports.
