Because EU countries have extended anti-dumping duties on Chinese footwear products and are under the pressure of RMB appreciation, some Taiwanese funded shoe-making enterprises are moving their production bases from mainland China to Indonesia.

Soma Wijaya, director of various industry bureaus of the Indonesian industrial ministry, said recently that about 20 Taiwanese companies were preparing to invest in Indonesia recently, with a total investment of about 4 billion dollars.

Investors have asked the Indonesian investment agency to spare 500 hectares of land to prepare for the plant.
