India's Federal Minister of textiles Rita Menon made an optimistic prediction. In the financial year 2011/2012, India's textile and clothing exports are expected to reach about 30 billion dollars, an increase of 20% over last year's US $25 billion.

The India government predicts that by 2020, India's share of global textile and clothing trade will increase from 4.5% to 8%, to 80 billion US dollars.

At present, India has a large number of looms, including 1 million 800 thousand looms (45% of the world's total) and 3 million 900 thousand manual looms (85% of the world's total).

In addition, the number of spindles in India ranks second in the world, accounting for 23% of the world's total.

Premal Udani, chairman of India Garment Export Promotion Association (AEPC), said India exporters are optimistic about the export situation of textiles and clothing.

The demand for India products is very good in the US market, and the demand in European market is also improving.

It is understood that since August 2010, India's textile exports to the United States have continued to grow, and the United States accounts for 40% of India's textile and garment export market share.
