In the two export centers of Shenzhen and Dongguan in southern China's Guangdong Province, more than 1 workers have gone on strike in the past week.
The latest protests broke out in a shoe factory in Shenzhen this week.
"Over the past week, labor disputes have intensified, which may be the biggest increase in labour disputes since the summer of 2010," said Jeffrey Crossel, Geoffrey Bulletin of China Labour Bulletin, a labor rights advocacy group in Hongkong.
The strike is coming amid growing concerns about the global economy, which is currently being dragged down by the euro zone's sovereign debt crisis and the weakness of the US recovery.

"We were forced to return to the factory," a worker said.
"But we just sat there, nobody operating the machine."
The worker, who did not want to be named, said the local government had taken a tough stance in the negotiations and stood in the same position with the factory.
