Textile Exports In India Have Steadily Recovered Over The Past Three Years.
The textile industry in India is one of the largest labor-intensive industries in China.
The textile industry provides direct employment opportunities for about 35000000 people. Export enterprises play a key role in the economy.
In 2008-09, in the 2009-10 and 2010-11 years, the textile industry earned 21 billion 230 million US dollars, US $22 billion 420 million and US $26 billion 830 million respectively.
In 2008-092009-10 and 2010-11, exports of textiles and clothing products, including coconut shell fiber, coconut shell fiber manufacturing and jute, accounted for 11.46%, 12.54% and 10.63% of the total value of national economic exports.
According to the latest provisional figures released by DGCI&S, exports of textiles and clothing products accounted for exports during the month of April 2011 -7.
The information comes from the written reply of the Minister of textiles to the federal Academy on Wednesday.
