Argentina Announces Extension Of Minimum Special Import Tax
In December 27, 2007, the Ministry of economy and production of Argentina announced 15/2007 resolution, announcing that the implementation period of the "minimum special import tax" (DIEM) promulgated in Act No. 509th of May 15, 2007 should be extended from December 31, 2007 to December 31, 2010.
The tax rate includes footwear, clothing and other products.
The resolution mentioned that, according to the information collection situation since the implementation, the different business representatives of the industries involved need to continue to maintain the tax rate.
They believe that this can ensure the normal development of their related industries and avoid the damage caused by the surging import.
